Weather

Winter 2025: More snow and cold than we’ve had for years

One of the things we’re constantly doing for you is watching the weather forecast. We operate differently with the weather in the winter than we do in the summer. We may cancel on a forecast in the winter.

In 2025 the weather is slowing us down in ways that you may not expect.

To provide the value standards we insist upon for you, we have to hire and train quality coaches. So far this winter the weather has significantly hampered our ability to develop our coaching standards for you in a timely manner.

You may refer to our weather policy for more details about how we work with the environmental conditions.

The Australian Open

The Australian Open is now history – history worth focusing on. Over 60 different countries participated in the Open, and the US had the second most players entered behind the host country.

US women are leading the USA Tennis resurgence!

In the Australian Open Women’s Singles Quarterfinals, there was a US player in 3 of the 4 matches –  Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, and Madison Keys. Jessica Pegula had gone out in the 3rd round.
Coco Gauff was a pretournament favorite, having been number 3 in the world for a while. She had not lost a match in 2025 until a fan favorite, Paul Badosa, had her number in the Quarters, 7-5, 6-4. It was a tantalizing match.
Emma Navarro fell to the number 2 in the world, Iga Swiatek, in the Quarters.
Madison Keys defeated number 2 Swiatek in the semifinals, and then defeated world number 1, Aryna Sabalenka, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. You can see the match summary in the video section below. Congratulations Madison Keys, the 2025 Australian Open Women’s Singles Champion!

US Men’s Tennis is resurging as well

We had 4 men in the 8 matches of the 4th Round, and 2 men in the 4 matches of the Quarterfinals- Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton.
Paul lost in 4 sets to Alexander Zverev, the number 3 in the world, in the Quarterfinals.
Ben Shelton lost in the Semifinals to ultimate AO Champion and world number 1, Jannik Sinner.

The top 5 US men are Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafo, and Sebastian Korda.

    Periodized Training

Periodized training for tennis means that you will chunk your time into key phases.
You need to be physically fit before you play – high school players need to plan to do their cardio fitness training before the competitive season.
The competitive season is the time to hone tactics, strategy, and your mental game. Players need to plan their skill acquisition outside of the competitive season.
