Coach’s Corner
Goals and Planning – for kids.
If players have big dreams of their tennis future, they’ll need the passion to pursue those dreams, and plans to support it.
They’ll also need a village to help them on the journey, particularly supportive parents, quality coaching, and a variety of play types and athletic development.
It is hard for many kids to conceptualize their future, and yet many kids have dreams that they may keep to themselves.
Many times we see
- “12 year old” beginners who suddenly want to play on their middle school team next year, or,
- “14 year old” casual players who suddenly want to play singles on their high school team next year, or,
- “17 year old” good players who suddenly want to play on their college team, or high level college club.
It’s not that you can’t always get there from “suddenly” but, sadly, frequently we can’t get there. We may wish we had worked differently to get to now.
Parents and kids need to align on a future tennis vision – the sooner the concepts become a conversation the better.
Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail.
If your and your child’s future vision includes playing:
- on a competitive private middle school team,
- top 2 singles in public high school, or,
- top 4 singles in private high school, or,
- on an accomplished D1, D2, or D3 college team, or,
- on a high level club team at a school like UVA, UCLA, or Harvard
For most players those types of goals require planned tennis development.
Please contact us and let us help you identify measurable Goals and Plans to reach those goals.
