SRA Kids Group Tennis Classes

Our instructional group classes for kids include:

Holistic approach.
Fun, social-emotional, character development, and skill building focus
Consistent with our modern player development curriculum
Prepare players to play and practice on their own. Practice what is learned in the lessons – use deliberate practice to improve faster.

Mature 16 and 17 year old players can enroll in the SRA adult classes.

1. Complete beginner. Never played tennis or any other racquet sports before. May not be skilled at visual tracking and hand-racquet-eye coordination
2. Minimal experience. Little play experience or instruction and is challenged to maintain a rally, and may not have a real serve. May still need to mature visual tracking and hand-eye coordination
3. Beginner. Plays some, can maintain a friendly rally, and may/not have a consistent serve. May or may not know how to play a match and keep score with etiquette
4. Beginner/Intermediate. Can maintain a consistent medium paced rally and may control direction and depth of their shots. Probably can serve enough to play a friendly game. Has at least basic etiquette
5. Intermediate. Rallys with some proficiency in direction and depth, and is working on pace and spin. Has some match play experience and knows basic tennis etiquette and has exposure to mental/emotional discipline processes
6. Intermediate/Advanced. Competitive player in orange, green, or yellow knows how to serve, rally and score. Has or is developing strategy and tactics. Is controlling/working on controlling spins. Is improving mental/emotional discipline and physical fitness/skills. Is advanced beyond that

In order for us to help provide the appropriate journey for your player we need to understand the goals. You, your player, and your coach ultimately need to align on your desired tennis outcomes

The tennis EXPERIENCE I WANT for my child is closest to: *

1. NO EXPECTATIONS: Try tennis to see if they like it. I have not hopes or expectations at this point
2. EXERCISE & ACTIVITY: Play tennis to get them out of the house and off the couch. They need to be more active
3. LIFETIME RECREATION: Learn to play tennis recreationally for a lifetime of leisure activity

THIS IS TO HELP ALIGN EXPECTATIONS AND OUTCOMES. It is no big deal if you and your child have different desires now, however if it persists you will want to get it aligned. PLAYER, PARENT, AND COACH NEED TO ALIGN. It is great for kids to have dreams and goals, however if their dreams are 7 or above they need to have an idea of the implied focus and effort, not later than 11 or 12 years of age for levels 8, 9 or 10.

2. Minimal experience. Little play experience or instruction and is challenged to maintain a rally, and may not have a real serve. May still need to mature visual tracking and hand-eye coordination
3. Beginner. Plays some, can maintain a friendly rally, and may/not have a consistent serve. May or may not know how to play a match and keep score with etiquette
4. Beginner/Intermediate. Can maintain a consistent medium paced rally and may control direction and depth of their shots. Probably can serve enough to play a friendly game. Has at least basic etiquette
5. Intermediate. Rallys with some proficiency in direction and depth, and is working on pace and spin. Has some match play experience and knows basic tennis etiquette and has exposure to mental/emotional discipline processes
6. Intermediate/Advanced. Competitive player in orange, green, or yellow knows how to serve, rally and score. Has or is developing strategy and tactics. Is controlling/working on controlling spins. Is improving mental/emotional discipline and physical fitness/skills. Is advanced beyond that

In order for us to help provide the appropriate journey for your player we need to understand the goals. You, your player, and your coach ultimately need to align on your desired tennis outcomes

The tennis EXPERIENCE I WANT for my 4th child is closest to: *

1. NO EXPECTATIONS: Try tennis to see if they like it. I have not hopes or expectations at this point
2. EXERCISE & ACTIVITY: Play tennis to get them out of the house and off the couch. They need to be more active
3. LIFETIME RECREATION: Learn to play tennis recreationally for a lifetime of leisure activity
4. FRIENDLY COMPETITION: Learn to play tennis for family/friendly competition and to be able to play matches as a young adult
5. COMPETE SOON: Learn to play tennis for friendly competition as a teenager or younger
6. INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE: Have an individual sport competitive experience in the neighborhood (maybe to complement team sports)
7. COMPETITIVE WITH NO OUTCOME in mind: Develop as a player to compete in middle school and make the no-cut high school team
8. COMPETITIVE WITH GOALS: Develop as a player to performantly play in the high school team’s matches against other schools
9. SERIOUSLY COMPETITIVE: Develop as a player to be near the top of their high school team, #1 or #2 singles, and play regional competitions, with options at college club tennis or NCAA Division 2/3 experiences
10. DEDICATED OR PRO ATHLETE: Develop as a player for NCAA Division I play, or scholarship, and consider the pro tour

6. COMPETITIVE, NO PRESSURE: They want to be competitive and will play tennis intently only “during the season” and, they may or may not also play other sports the part or the rest of the year
7. COMPETITIVE BALANCING: They want to be seriously competitive and understand and are willing to apply continuous focus on tennis throughout most of the year, with or without other sports in season

Seasonal/Quarterly Email and Monthly Newsletter

We don't pollute your inbox. We use several broad emails a year. While you are regularly playing with us in our lessons/programs you will get about 1 email per week for that particular lesson/program from your coach.

Seasonal Email: The Seasonal email is comprised of 3 or 4, at most 5, emails a year. They generally align to our quarterly/seasonal offerings, and may also keep you apprised of continuous programs and new initiatives we have for you.

Monthly Newsletter: The Newsletter comes out 10 to 12 times per year, once per month. Each newsletter has 3 parts: A news section, in inspirational quote, or possibly a tennis joke or historical fact, and a brief Advantage Tennis update.
